Micrometers

When I was a teen, I discovered my dad's micrometer. Micrometers are neat small tools that you can use to measure small thicknesses, for example paper. This one had a vernier scale to get an extra decimal point of precision; I'm not sure how that works. Finally though, I managed to jam the micrometer tight, so tight neither me nor my dad could get it open again.
